Level 1 Riderschool Student and/or Group 1 (BEG.) Track Day Bike Prep:
Level 1 students and Group 1 Beginners are not required to safety wire the oil fill cap or oil drain plug. In lieu of safety wire, we will allow the use of high-temp silicone as a temporary measure to seal the oil fill cap and oil drain plug. Oil filter is still required to be safety wired. (See Safety Wire Basics for help - includes pictures!) Oil Fill Cap and Oil Drain Plug shown - Products needed are Brake Clean / Contact Cleaner (Motul makes a great one!) and High-Temp Red RTV Silicone.
This image shows how to safety wire the oil filter. This is very typical of most manufacturers that use a spin-on oil filter. Please see Safety Wire Basics for more help on safety wiring.
Liquid
cooled bikes must run water only or racing approved coolant only (such as Motul MoCool), no
anti-freeze. The racing approved coolant must be approved by WERA or CCS - check with their rulebooks. (2009 CCS rulebook says "Cooling system must not contain ethylene glycol." 2009 WERA rulebook says "Glycol based antifreezes are prohibited.")
Remove
mirrors, tape over all glass and lights AND tape over the speedometer.
You do not need the speedometer on the racetrack. It is an unsafe distraction. You only need your tachometer.
Tires
must be Sport or Race compound with good tread depth. New
tires are recommended.
NEW: Please remove all previous Tech stickers from any/all organizations BEFORE coming through Tech. If you have stickers that are not removed, you will not pass Tech and you will be asked to remove them before coming back through Tech.
Students and/or Track Day participants are now permitted to use their sidestands. They are not required to zip-tie their sidestands in the up position. PLEASE NOTE: Side stand engine kill switch must be operational and will be inspected at Tech. If the sidestand engine kill switch fails, you will be required to zip-tie the kickstand in the up position.
