The
Cornerspeed™ School. Level 1
The Cornerspeed School is a one day comprehensive school. Our emphasis
is on bike control through turns and how to develop rhythm as a "pilot"
(the correct term for a motorcycle rider/racer). We break down the parts
and pieces of what it takes to "be smooth" (rhythm). We do not
just tell you to "go out and be smooth", we EXPLAIN AND SHOW
YOU HOW to be smooth. We define and discuss types of turns, pavement and
elevation changes, parts of the turn: entrance, mid-corner and exit, setting
up for the turns and how to put it all together. Being relaxed and smooth
on the bike is every rider's ultimate goal. After that, it's easy to go
fast. Additional topics (partial list): Flags and track etiquette, Basic
suspension theory, Turn-in point, Steering input, Throttle control, Visualization,
Body transitioning. Kneedragging (dos and donts), Breaking
down the track into parts and then putting it back together. You need
to be well rested and alert to absorb the volume of information we cover
in one day.
PRE-REQUISITES: Previous track experience
is not required. This course is a high-performance riding school. Being
absolutely familiar with your motorcycle and knowing how to operate it
is absolutely necessary. i.e. You need be comfortable operating your vehicle

More Cornerspeed. Level 2
PLEASE
NOTE: The core curriculum of More Cornerspeed Level 2 is taught
at our Cornerspin™ school which can allow students to ride
beyond the limits of traction and experiment with their personal limits
on a motorcycle. Click here to find out more.
More Cornerspeed Level 2 takes up where the first school left off. This
more advanced school will focus on braking; deep braking while maintaining
a high corner speed and trail braking without sacrificing corner speed.
The other aspects of this school are throttle control; not just early
application but why and when, weight transfer; how to's and whys, chassis
control through rider input and throttle input(s). This is just an overview.
There is much more. For 2007, we are going to 1:1 training for the
duration of the day. You will have an instructor with you during every
session. NOTE: We highly recommend that you are familiar with the track/circuit
on which you take this course. i.e. If you have never ridden the North
Course at V.I.R., you really NEED to do a track day or two on it before
registering for this course. If not, you will be struggling to do the
drills while memorizing the circuit lay-out.
PRE-REQUISITES: Completion of the Cornerspeed
School (Level 1) or another accredited school is required before this
course can be taken. We suggest a minimum of 5-7 track days after your
first school before registering for this course.
ACCREDITATION: Not part of the normal curriculum;
HOWEVER, If you wish to take the race accreditation
written test, you must arrange this prior to the school date. You are
responsible for studying all flags and etiquette on your own. We will
only administer the test. Successful complete will gain you a letter to
your desired federation/organization for you to obtain a racing license.
