Steering dampner / steering stabilizer?

How effective are these? How many of you use them at the track? I've got an 06 R6 I plan on bringing to VIR in less than a couple months and have been considering this for awhile. Any suggestions appreciated.

Steering dampers were created as a bandaid for wobbles that could not be identified in the past. Since Comutrack was introduced in 1993, we now can identify why a bike wobbles. It is usually a mis-alignment. Once all is aligned well, there is no need for a steering damper unless you are required to have one by the organization you ride with.

I agree that a damper is not a band-aid for a bent/badly set up bike. But an oscillation can occur from hitting a bump, other bike, etc. that needs to be damped other than by the twisting of rubber.
