Also, anyone been following the tour? There's been some great action so far. Has funny effects too as you start to see more people out on bicycles during this time period, even saw a guy out rockin' a gold jersey today....guess you have your imagination at any age I suppose.

Yep. I've watched all the stages so far. Some great finishes. Versus is getting better with their sidebars, interviews and coverage. Even the effects and color saturation of the cinematography on the special sections like "The Alps", "The Pyrennes" makes for more interesting viewing.

Good timing on upping their game when gas is $4 a gallon and an opportunity to bring more people into the sport of bicycling. It would be nice to see better coverage on SpeedTV of motorcycle related shows, races and events that would up our sport a bit as well.

what'd you mean? You don't like the amazing promotion we're receiving from Superbikes every Tuesday? I mean really, that's what I do every week on my SV... I just can't tell you how excited I am that the entire US motorcycling community is segregated between Orange County Choppers and Superbikes, nothing else must occur on two wheels in the States. :x

Looks like the doping busts have begun, sad part is I found this out on CNN.com which I hate to say it probably touches a lot more people than the Versus network. I know it's there, but the sad part is that I think Versus has done well and captured a lot of the excitement of the tour. Kind of a pisser to see Ricco in the headlines.

Man that was a brutal climb to Prato Nevoso, and a brilliant show by Gerrans. Talk about the feeling the pain for that ride. That's a great way to bring some positive light back in if you ask me.

Regarding athletes and doping:

Kudos to the sanctioning bodies of cycling. The sport of cycling is taking charge of this issue which is found in all sports. UCI and ASO are catching, arresting, banning and/or suspending their athletes. Teams immediately fire their "bad apples". You won't find owners that will do that in US stick and ball sports.

In US based sports, we have athletes like Sosa, McGuire, Clemens in baseball as well as many other unnamed athletes in football and basketball that have been caught using or associated with performance enhancing drugs and nothing is done. They are not taken into Police custody like cyclists. Most of the time, the US stick and ball athletes only receive a slap on the wrist and then the media will talk about whether or not the athletes should be allowed into their respective Hall of Fame.

Doping (performance enhancing drug use) is everywhere but the good thing is that the sanctioning bodies of cycling are doing something about it and taking no prisoners. Or should I say they literally are "taking prisoners"!

I like what David Millar said on Ricco's wins: If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Good point.. I realized they were putting some serious screws to those that did violate the rules, and that there is pretty much no consequence to athletes here. I didn't really even think about it myself when they said that they went to Ricco's trailer with a police escort, but that's amazing they took him into custody. In the grand scheme of things it's a good thing though. I can definitely appreciate the no bs approach to the subject.

Brings back memories of a particular South Park episode where Jimmy starts "juicin", beats up his girlfriend during a roid rage, and then procedes to call out a few baseball players. :-D

What a great ride by Sastre today. The final TT is going to be a good one, for sure. It's shaped up to be a pretty good year for the Tour. I thought it may be a little uneventful to begin with. Not so!

Brilliant stuff by Sastre, gotta say though my favorite rider of the tour, Andy Schleck is BRUTAL, especially on the climbs but he just seems to keep finding that extra "mojo" each stage.

Sastre wins. Tour is over. Versus is now back to shooting animals, bull riding and cage fighting. Only one more year until they offer decent cycling coverage again. It would be nice to see coverage of the Vuelta a Espana but we'll only get Sunday recaps of the Grand Tours and this doesn't count as coverage. The Cyclism Sunday coverages are for the most part very mediorcre. Guess I'll have to purchase cycling.tv like I did with motogp.com. Man, these non-American sports are expensive!!

Did the bridge to bridge ride from lenoir to grandfather last weekend. 106 miles......was a good ride.

As cold weather is approaching i thought i'd post some cool gadgets. One of which is from sidi which as everybody knows makes kickass cycling shoes as well as motorcycle boots.

Cool stuff but when it gets that cold, I'll be in a 100º room doing yoga and looking at the "scenery". :-D

Didn't do B2B but have done some great rides as of late.

My B-day was a few weeks ago. I did the Mt. Mitchell ride as my present to myself. Non-cyclist friends thought I was crazy and that I should be home drinking and eating myself into a celebratory stupor. Er, no. That was an awesome present to myself to be able to crank out that ride for my "advanced" years.

Hopefully, we can hook up for more rides next year AND I'll do a better job of planning my weekends so I can ride the full 24hrBooty.

Man I was just about to come back to this thread. How's everyones training going? It's been dipping into the 30's up here, and sometimes the 20's early in the morning, so I've moved indoors for the most part. Cool thing though, the built a new American Family that has some cool virtual reality bikes that are a lot of fun and have a ton of courses and a pace rider. I amazed how good of a workout it is....
