SV1000S Temp.

I just purchased a new SV1000S and I was wondering what the normal operating temp usually is for those who own an SV1000S. I have a TL1000R and it normally runs 180 degrees but I noticed the Sv running around 192 (thats with only 35 miles on it), so I just wanted to make sure everything was doing O.K. since I couldn't find anthing in the book on it.

That sounds about right. The ol' TLR had the split radiator configuration which I think had more cooling surface area than the SV1000's does (I personally think the SV1000's radiator is a bit too smalll for the 1000 engine, because it is only slightly larger than the SV650's radiator). FYI, my SV1000 runs around 200 degrees at the track and I have removed the fan to allow better air flow, but I can't leave the bike running very long after a session (so leave your fan on). Yeah that helps me out knowing that i'm not letting it get to hot since I don't know what it should be at in the first place. Since it is new I just didn't want to screw something up, thanks again.

we are planning on trying to get thru the break in's for both bikes (or atleast part of it) tomorrow (sunday)

250 miles thru the break-in at the end of the day Mike.

finally got too excitied and cranked it to about 9k in 2nd and shifted like I meant it.

it's gonna be wicked when I can keep the r's above about 5,500-6 for the upshifts I believe.

I wish you could send some rain this way too. It was 102 when I left work today, but rumor has it that it's supposed to cool down to 88 by the weekend. I'll have to dig out my winter coat if it cools down that much!

there for awhile here it just sucked to be at work (i'm outside alot) and it was miserable hot... then I'd come home and try to wait for it to cool down a few degrees to mow the yard and it would start storming I finally gave up and had to mow the grass wet and it looks like I've got hay ready for bailing out there.

been so hot this summer it's just been kinda crappy.

They should get you instructer guys some shirts with your names on em' or something so we know who we talkin to. I'm sure probably talked to ya atleast once but I never think to get a name to go with the face.. IT's just always the guy on the blue bike and green shirt over there told me to try this and it worked! haha.

We actually have polo shirts we wear in the morning with our names on them, and khaki shorts with the Conerspeed logo on them.

When riding on the track not only do we have the colored t-shirts to identify us, we also have red helmets with our names on the back. That way when you're riding behind us you can see our name on the back of the helmet in bright silver letters. Some of us also have our numbers and other identifying marks on there.

We're also always setup on hot pit lane so if you ever have a question feel free to walk up to any of the canopies and ask an instructor for help or advice.

If you take a moment to glance at the instructor's helmet as you're rolling out of pit lane, then you'll know the name of the instructor you worked with for that session. You can also always ask someone based on the bike description too as most of us know each other's bikes and numbers pretty well.
